Our special guests were Cora Weiss for whom the Fellowship for Young Women Peacebuilders was named, and Nyuon Susan Sebit who is the 2018-2019 recipient of the Fellowship that was created to honor Cora Weiss. Our Gamma Alpha Chapter Meeting took place at the Mircrosoft Flagship Store in Manhattan.

Cora is the President of the Hague Appeal for Peace and has been a peace activist since the early sixties. As President, she is leading a campaign dedicated to the abolition of war. Cora has a long record of support for the United Nations and in 2020 will be hosting the CTAUN Conference at the United Nations, “War No More.
Nyuon Susan Sebit is an accomplished Human Rights lawyer from Juba, South Sudan. She brings to the Global Network of Women Peacebuilders her experience in advocating for women access to justice in East Africa. She is co-founder and Executive Director for the National Alliance for Women Lawyers where she worked towards ending violence against women and implementing the peace and security agenda in South Sudan. Through the Cora Weiss Fellowship Nyuon can join the GNWP Coordinating Teams where they work to promote effective implementation of UN Security Council Resolutions on women peace and security, and youth peace and security.
Nyuon spoke about her experience and challenges as human rights lawyer in South Sudan, and steps to implementation of UN Security Council Resolutions.
