Professor LaTanya Eggleston, member of Alpha Beta State (Maryland), and Kirsten Grünberg, member of Gamma Alpha (New York City) participated at the event 50 Years After Martin Luther King: A Dream Deferred at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration featured scholars, community leaders, and activists who engaged in conversations regarding the future of social justice movements within the context of the current social and political climate. The guest speakers included:
• Imam Talib Abdur-Rashid, Mosque of the Islamic Brotherhood • Taylor Branch, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and MLK biographer • Rosa Clemente, activist, scholar, and 2008 Vice Presidential candidate (Green Party) • Pandit Dasa, Author and Weelbeing expert • Patrisse Khan-Cullors, Co-Founder, Black Lives Matter • Minister Kirsten John Foy – Minister, President of the Brooklyn Chapter of the National Action Network • Dr. Clarence Jones, civil rights leader and former attorney and advisor to Dr. King • Rabbi Sharon Kleinbaum, Activist and spiritual leader of Congregation Beit Simchat Torah • Linda Sarsour, Co-Founder, Women’s March • Jeanne Theoharis, Scholar and Professor of Political Science at Brooklyn College

Before the event, LaTanya and Kirsten enjoyed a delicious brunch at Sylvia's Restaurant in Harlem. They are both Webmasters for their Chapters so they also had a lot of information and tips to exchange!
